The main block of the School was built in 1916 in the "Spanish Mission" style and has "A"-grade historical protection. Inside, is a large theatre, with tiered seating, which is used for assemblies. The theatre has an innovative design, with a vaulted ceiling covering the central "court" of the building, a reminder of the Oxbridge college quadrangles. This was, at the time of constuction an innovative design concept.

Tibbs House (the sole boarding facility) is a large colonial-style wooden edifice. As a state school, building expansion has been funded at the same level as other state schools, meaning that some more recent expansions are not well in keeping with the older buildings.
