Assumption of Mary
According to Roman Catholic theology and the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, the body and soul of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Mary, the mother of Jesus) was taken into Heaven after the end of her earthly life. Mary's passage into heaven is called Assumptio Beatæ Mariæ Virginis (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) by Roman Catholics. This doctrine was dogmatically defined by Pope Pius XII on the 1st of November 1950.
