Artificial consciousness

Artificial consciousness (AC), also known as machine consciousness (MC) or synthetic consciousness, is a field related to Artificial intelligence whose aim is to produce a rigorous and objective definition of consciousness, in a mathematical sense, and build a theory toward implementating it in a model or a cognitive architecture.{{fn|1}}

The ethics of artificial consciousness

In the absence of a true physical understanding of consciousness researchers do not even know why they want to construct a machine that is conscious. If it was certain that a particular machine was conscious it would probably need to be given rights under law and could not be used as a slave.
