Arthur Mitchell (dancer)
Arthur Mitchell (March 27, 1934 - ) is an African-American dancer and choreographer. He was born in New York City. He attended the New York City High School of the Performing Arts and the School of American Ballet. In 1955, he became a member of the New York City Ballet, where he danced for 15 years. In 1969, he cofounded the Dance Theatre of Harlem with Karel Shook.
