~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ It is also home to the Artane Boys Band which was set up in 1872 in what was then an industrial school run by the Christian Brothers for orphaned boys. Note that the Artane Boys Band now allows girls to join but everyone still calls it the Artane Boys Band. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 1969 the school ceased functioning as an orphanage and became a secondary school for boys. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
