Art Schlichter
Art Schlichter (April 25 1960-) is a former NFL and Arena Football League quarterback, perhaps now known more for his compulsive gambling and other legal problems.

Born in Washington Court House, Ohio, Schlichter was a star player at Miami Trace High School, and a standout player at Ohio State, who nearly led his team to the national title. He was picked fourth in the 1982 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts (which became in the next year, the Indianapolis Colts).

Schlichter had three lackluster seasons with Baltimore and Indianapolis; he was suspended during the 1983 season by the NFL, after it became known that he had over $150,000 in outstanding gambling debts. He was released after the 1985 season. Later, he played in the Arena Football League for the Detroit Drive in 1990 and 1991, and for the Cincinnati Rockers in 1992. He hosted a television talk show in Las Vegas during the early 1990s, and appeared on The Phil Donahue Show, talking about his addiction.

A confessed compulsive gambler, he, by his own count, been in more than 30 prisons, and committed over 20 felonies. His various legal problems, including fraud cases and forgery, among others, were often well-publicized. He is currently incarcerated in the Medaryville Correctional Facility, due for release in May 28, 2008.
