Appellations are terms which are associated with saints, churches, God, and particular events in liturgical Christian churches, both eastern and western. For example, the Visitation is a common appelation for the event during which Mary, the mother of Jesus, went to visit her cousin Elizabeth in the hills as told in the New Testament of the Christian Bible.
