Anthony B

Anthony B is the stage name of the Jamaican musician who was born as Keith Blair and grew up in Clarks Town, Jamaica in Trelawny parish. He began to sing in his mother's Seventh Day Adventist church. People in his community would clap and cheer him on to sing for them. People would sometimes give him money to sing. Growing up in a rural area his favorite singers were Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer. His deejay debut was at a local party. as a result of this he eneded up moving to Portmore in the parish of St. Catherine in 1988.

As a teen he hooked up with a couple of up-and-coming stars such as Determine, Mega Banton,Ricky General and Terror Fabulous.

At this point in reggae industry singing about women was the hot thing to do. Anthony B did not believe in degrading women so he refused to write or sing any songs about women. As a result of him waiting for his turn he hooked up with Little Devon the Half Pint sound-a-like singer he made his debut single "The living is hard" on the Wizard label in 1993. Anthony B tired many different producers. All the producers that he tried didn't fit his style of music. until one day a friend of his introduced him to Afrocentric, a Rastafarian producer.

From there on Anthony B has been producing his such as "Fire pon Rome", "Rumour" and "Raid di barn". followed in quick pursuit and his landmark debut album Real Revolutionary was released to popular acclaim in 1996. Late 1997 his second worldwide album "Universal Struggle" was released and again excellence is consistent. The album is one of the best in Reggae for 1997 and 1998. Lyrically, thematically and rhythmically versatile, the album encapsulates African consciousness and the Peter Tosh-like deliveries and clarity of vocals are indelibly present throughout.
