Ann Veneman
Ann Margaret Veneman (born June 29, 1949) was the 27th United States Secretary of Agriculture, and was a director of Calgene, the first company to market genetically-engineered food. She announced her resignation as Secretary of Agriculture on November 15, 2004, which took effect on January 20, 2005. On January 14, 2005, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced Secretary Veneman's nomination as the next Executive Director of UNICEF. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10691-2005Jan14.html?nav=rss_topnews On January 19, she was appointed to the post, effective with the resignation of current UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellamy in May, 2005.
