She was married three times. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Her first husband Victor Malcolm was a grandson of Lillie Langtry. Her second (Nigel Tangye) and third husband (Sir David Lean) were first cousins. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ She became a popular actress in such films as Perfect Strangers (1945) (as a nurse) and The Seventh Veil (1947) (as a troubled concert pianist), as well as several of Lean's films including Madeleine (1949) and The Sound Barrier (1952). She later ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ produced a series of travel films. She died from a stroke aged 84. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
