ANFO


 

ANFO stands for Ammonium Nitrate / Fuel Oil (most often diesel fuel, sometimes kerosene). It is by far the most widely used explosive in coal mining, quarrying, metal mining, and civil construction: it accounts for an estimated 80% of the 6,000,000,000 pounds (2,700,000 metric tons) of explosive used annually in North America.
