Andy Breckman


 

Andy Breckman is the creator and executive producer of the television series Monk, on the USA Network. He was previously a member of the writing staff of Saturday Night Live and Late Night With David Letterman. One of Breckman's most famous TV comedy sketches was a Saturday Night Live segment called "White Like Me" (which he also directed), where Eddie Murphy disguises himself as a Caucasian man for a day in order to experience the societal advantages White people enjoy which African American people don't.

Breckman writes and performs music, and has released two comedy folk albums, Don't Get Killed and Proud Dad. He has also written numerous comedy films including Sgt. Bilko and Rat Race.

Breckman also did comedy writing for and went on a USO tour with Al Franken. He is also a co-host on the comedy "call-in" radio program Seven Second Delay on WFMU, together with Ken Freedman.

Breckman lives in New Jersey with his wife, documentary filmmaker, Beth Landau, and has three daughters and a son. He was formerly married to Mary Breckman.
