Andronicus Palaeologus
Andronicus Palaeologus ( 1403 - 1429 ) despot of Thessalonica 1408-1423 is son of Byzantine emperor Manuel II .

In childhood he is surviving sickness which has killed his brothers Michael and Constantin older, but he has never recovered in full staying always man of poor health. When he has been only 5 years old father has made him despot of Thessalonica when his cousin old despot John VII Palaeologus has died.

After crowning of John VIII on crown heir position in 1421 Byzantine empire has started war against Turks.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Not long after that Thessalonica had been besieged. Now under siege Andronicus has lost calm and started international talks for giving city to Venetia. In the end that has happened. Venetia military forces has entered city against population wishes in 1423. This move is reason for first long Venetia-Turkish war. Turkish soldiers has entered Thessalonica in 1430.

Less of one year after giving city to Venetia Andronicus has entered monastery where he has died in 1429.
