Rawnsley's book, Servants of the People (2000, paperback revision 2001) is a well-regarded account of the early years of New Labour in government. In particular the book raised the profile of the feud between Tony Blair (who Rawnsley strongly supports) and Gordon Brown. Andrew Rawnsley is also a fervent defender of the war in Iraq and is particularly fond of using military analogies in his journalism.
