It is one of Christie's more well-known works, being available as a book, several films, and a play. Like several other Christie titles, the book's name comes from a nursery rhyme. It was first published as Ten Little Niggers and The Nigger in the Woodpile in England in 1939, and in 1940 it was republished in New York as And Then There Were None, a line from the same nursery rhyme.
