Ana Peraica


 
 

Ana Peraica (born 1972) is a media theorist and curator whose writings, most of which copyleft, were translated in many languages English, German, French, Bulgarian, Croatian, Polish... (see below) She teaches at the University of Rijeka.

Peraica was born in the family of photographers, holding a famous atelier on the main square of the Diocletian's Palace - Peristil in the Split (city), where also living for generations. She is a daughter of portrait photographer Dra?en and granddaughter of war and theatre photographer Antonio Perajica (also descendant of hajduk or uskok Elia Peraizza and a niece of USA politician Tony Peraica)

In 2009 she has shown movies hidden against censorship in their antique basement recorded by her grandfather Antonio Perajica who was a Commissar of Film and Photography of Josip Broz Tito's First Proletarian Brigade). Nine 16mm edited tapes, in total length of 45 minutes, were never shown to the public before. They came into a attention of the media for it was one of lengthier filming in the WW2 but also as one contained a shot of Bishop Alojzije Stepinac and Josip Broz Tito appearing together. The meeting of assassinated and the assassin, erased from other visual documents, has filled double pages in all Croatian daily newspapers in the middle of election-period in Croatia, still being divided and influenced by the WW2 history.
