Ana Matronic


 

Ana Matronic (born Ana Lynch on August 14th, 1974) is a female singer for Scissor Sisters. She joined the group founded by Jake Shears and Babydaddy after they played their first live gig at a cabaret night called "knockoff" which she founded and hosted at The Slipper Room on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Prior to moving to New York, Ana lived in San Francisco, where she performed at the drag club Trannyshack and was the first and only female to reach the finals of the Miss Trannyshack pageant.

In 2004, Ana revealed to British magazine Glamour that her parents' marriage broke up when she was a toddler due to her father's homosexuality, and that her father died of an AIDS related illness when she was 13. She says that her immersion in gay culture is probably an attempt to feel closer to him, as they never had a very deep relationship whilst he was alive.

In 2005, she featured on the New Order song and single "Jetstream". The single was taken from the band's album Waiting for the Sirens' Call.
