American Red Cross
The American Red Cross (chartered as the American National Red Cross) is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education inside the United States, as part of the International Federation of the Red Cross.
International services
The American Red Cross is involved with many important international projects, such as the African Measles Initiative and the relief effort for the 2004 South Asia Tsunami disaster. The American Red Cross also handles international tracing requests for families who have been separated by war or disaster and are trying to locate relatives overseas, as well as a World War II Holocaust tracing service.
