American History X is one of the very few American films that touches on "forbidden" and "politically-incorrect" topics of affirmative action, minority hiring quotas, high crime rate among blacks and Latinos, welfare abuse, illegal immigration (a.k.a "border jumping" in southern states), minority favoring in job hiring and college acceptances and other topics that still split American society down the middle.
