Ambala
Ambala is a small town located on the border of the states of Haryana and Punjab in India. Politically and geographically Ambala has two sub-areas: Ambala Cantt (cantonment) and Ambala City, a few kilometers apart from each other. It has a large army and air-force base within the confines of its cantonment area.
Origins
There are quiet a few interesting beliefs about the origin of Ambala:

- It was found by an Amb Rajput, in the 14th century, and thus the name.
- It was named after the goddess "AMBA" whose temple is located in the city.
- Ambala was originally called "Ambwala", Amb meaning mango in the native language (so, Village of Mangoes)
