The song was co-written and co-produced by Carey, Jermaine Dupri, and Manuel Seal. It is one of Carey's most popular songs. The mid-tempo pop number describes her handling a breakup well, as she knows that although she and her ex are no longer together, he'll always be a part of her, and will "always be her baby".
