Allen Shawn
Allen Shawn (b. 1948) is a composer who currently lives in Vermont. Among available recordings of his work are several CDs of chamber music, a CD of piano music, and a recording of his Piano Concerto performed by Ursula Oppens with the Albany Symphony, directed by David Alan Miller. Shawn is also the author of a book about twentieth century Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg entitled Arnold Schoenberg's Journey. He is the son of New Yorker editor William Shawn and the brother of actor and playwright Wallace Shawn. He is married to novelist Jamaica Kincaid and teaches at Bennington College.
