The series came under a lot of criticism as to its political correctness. Some satirically nicknamed it "All About Filling Mr Grade's Quotas", the insinuation being that the series (with its multiple minorities in one family) is only an easy way for the BBC to meet standards for representation of the disabled and ethnic minorities.
