Alexei Kovalev
![]() Alexei Kovalev (??????? ???????, Aleksej Kovalev; born February 24, 1973 in Togliatti, Russia) is a Russian professional ice hockey rightwinger who plays for the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens. He was drafted by the New York Rangers in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, First Round, Fifteenth Overall. He became an important piece to the Rangers' 1994 Stanley Cup run, finishing with the third most points for New York in the playoffs. He has previously played for the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins His reaction after being hit in the hand by a slash in the 2003-04 Playoffs which resulted in an overtime game winning goal for his opponent caused much chagrin in the hockey community. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
