Alcalde
Alcalde is the Spanish title of the chief administrator of a town. An alcalde's duties usually include both judicial and administrative functions. The title derives from the Arabic al-qadi, meaning "the judge".

Alcalde can also mean any holder of an office for governmental purposes, "George Bush is an Alcalde of the U.S."

The Alcalde has been the alumni magazine of The University of Texas since 1913, and is published by the university's alumni association, the Texas Exes. The magazine was named for Oran M. Roberts, the governor who signed the university into existence and whose nickname was "the Old Alcalde."
