Alastair Stewart


 

Alastair Stewart (born 22 June 1952) is a British television newsreader. He is currently with the British news organisation ITN.

He has presented a wide range of ITN-produced news programmes including the award-winning Channel 4 News, ITV News and News at Ten. In 1992, he left ITN after losing out to Trevor McDonald in the race to become the face of ITN on News at Ten. He joined the London News Network to co-present London Tonight, the ITV regional news programme for London.

He is still there more than 10 years on, but has since re-appeared on the national news, most recently the lunchtime news on ITV1 and is also seen presenting his own programme - Live with Alastair Stewart - on the ITV News Channel.

He also presented a programme called Police Camera Action, showing video footage of examples of road crime from police cars. However, he had to resign from presenting this after his second conviction for Drink driving.
