Alabama (band)
Alabama is a country music band that was started in 1969 but did not get a recording contract until 1977. They were the first successful country group act in modern times, thanks to their blend of contemporary and traditional country along with southern rock. they remain the most successful country group of all time, with 42 No. 1 singles on Billboard magazine's Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart.
Trivia
- In 2001, Randy Owen performed the song "Angels Among Us" at the funeral for NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt.
- In May 2002, the band announced its "Farewell Tour", which took place across the USA during 2003 & 2004.
- In August 2005, it was announced Alabama - along with Grand Ole Opry pioneer DeFord Bailey and country-pop superstar Glen Campbell - would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
