Most of the episodes take place in the fictional town of Odyssey. Most episodes center around an ice cream shop called Whit's End, as well as the proprietor, John Avery Whittaker, employees Connie Kendall and Eugene Meltsner, and various other child and adult residents of Odyssey. Interspersed between comedic episodes are melodramatic "arc" episodes, which further the Adventures in Odyssey plot.
