Adrian Erlandsson

Adrian Erlandsson is a Swedish heavy metal drummer, who played in bands like At the Gates, The Haunted and currently Cradle of Filth.

He was born in Malmö, Sweden on October 27, 1970. At age 11, he began drumming. After years of trying to tap along to songs, his father took him to the local music store and bought him an Amber Maxtone drum kit: five piece, with one cymbal and one hi-hat. When they got home, he phoned his friend to tell him to come over so they could play together. As Adrian puts it: "He knew i chord... I knew less than one beat!!!". After a few weeks, they could play the Intro-verse-Chorus to Joan Jett's "I Love Rock N' Roll". They also started playing with his music teacher at school, who taught him many valuable lessons. He still keeps them by him today. Eventually they were trying other songs and then started trying to make their own stuff. A band came together, and they went through several changes of name. The most outstanding one was Berits Polisonger (meaning Berits Sideburns, Berit being a female name)....

Eventually, each band member wanted to go different ways musically. Adrian wanted to do something more metal orientated. For two whole years, he found no one wanting to do the same things until he met some guys who were into thrash metal. So, they created a band called "Penance", full on thrash. Due to not having the right people, Penance never really became much and never recorded a demo, although they recorded some rehearsal tracks. Erlandsson then had to go to University in Gothenburg. In 1989, while there he joined the Swedish death metal band At the Gates. Things went smoothly until At the Gates broke up. Erlandsson and the Björler brothers of At the Gates formed The Haunted with Mary Beats Jane singer Peter Dolving. In 1999, Erlandsson left The Haunted to join the British black metal band Cradle of Filth. In the beginning, they wanted him for a session, although he stayed with Cradle. Since then, he has recorded six albums up until Nymphetamine. This will change when they release their new album. He is also doing work with Skitsystem.
