Adam Hollioake
Adam John Hollioake (born 5 September 1971 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) was an all-round cricketer. He moved to England with his family in 1983, and played first-class cricket for Surrey County Cricket Club between 1993 and 2004. Not the most graceful of players, he nevertheless had a knack for leadership: he captained Surrey for several years and led them to victory in the County Championship in 1999, 2000 and 2002.

Hollioake has a relatively undistinguished Test match career, playing in four Test matches for England at the end of 1997 and the beginning of 1998. He achieved greater success in One-Day International, playing in 35 matches from 1996 to 1999, taking over the captaincy of the ODI side for 14 matches while Michael Atherton remained Test captain. Hollioake's international career may well have resumed in 2003 had his brother and Surrey and England team-mate Ben not been killed in a car crash in 2002. Although Adam returned to Surrey afterwards, and even resumed his captaincy of the side, inevitably his priorities had been changed irrevocably by the tragedy and he retired after an injury-affected 2004 season.
