Acclimatization
Acclimatization, uh kly muh tuh ZAY shuhn, is the way in which an organism adjusts to changes in its environment (surroundings). It generally refers to the ability of living things to adjust to changes in climate. Some people use the word adaptation to describe such changes (see Adaptation). Acclimatization usually occurs in a short time, within the organism's lifetime.
