Acastus Kolya

Commander Acastus Kolya is a fictional character from the science fiction series Stargate Atlantis. He is played by film and television veteran Robert Davi.

In the two-part episode, "The Storm" and "The Eye", Kolya led a Genii strike force through the Stargate to seize the city of Atlantis and steal supplies (e.g. C-4) from Earth's expedition team. Doctors Elizabeth Weir and Rodney McKay are captured, and two Marines were killed.

The raid was defeated largely due to the efforts of Major John Sheppard, who escaped initial capture and launched a one-man war on the Genii soldiers. Sheppard took out many soldiers in armed combat, used his wits to eliminate the Genii reinforcements, and was only daunted by threats against Weir and McKay. In the process of repelling the Genii incursion, Sheppard closed the Atlantis Stargate's energy-iris on an incoming wormhole that was transporting 60 Genii reinforcement soldiers, killing them all instantly: among those killed was Idos, the son of a close friend of his, Athor.

Reinforcements, in the form of Lt. Aiden Ford, Teyla Emmagan and Dr. Carson Beckett, allowed the motley group to gain the upper hand and drive Kolya and his forces out of the city. Kolya was wounded during the retreat through the Stargate, being shot in the shoulder by a vengeful Sheppard.

His return to the Genii was not a joyous event. Chief Cowen of the Genii was quick to punish Kolya, suspending him from further missions for several months. It was only when the Genii were again pitted against the Atlantis team that Kolya was given the chance to settle the score with his nemesis, Sheppard.

As Sheppard, McKay, Ford and Teyla searched for a Zero Point Module, or ZPM, Kolya and some troops ambushed the team and captured them. Sheppard, Teyla and Ford were forced to wait in an underground chamber while McKay was forced to help Kolya recover the 'keys' to recovering the ZPM.

It was only when the ZPM had been found that Sheppard, Ford and Teyla were able to turn the tables on their captors, beating Kolya and several Genii soldiers into submission. Sheppard spared a defenseless Kolya, in return for future brownie points from the Commander. ("The Brotherhood")
