A66 road
The A66 is a major road in England. It runs from Middlesbrough in North Yorkshire to Workington in Cumbria. It is incorrectly numbered as west of Penrith it trespasses into Zone 5.

From Middlesbrough, it runs past Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington, before meeting the A1 road. From its junction with the A1 road at Scotch Corner, the road heads west, across the Pennines, through Appleby, Penrith, Keswick and Cockermouth, through the northern reaches of the Lake District, before arriving at the coastal town of Workington.

The sction between Bowes and Scotch Corner is a busy single carriageway with a high proportion of HGVs, and has a terrible accident record. As a result, in 2002 Transport Minister John Spellar pledged to upgrade the route to dual carriageway.
