A1 (band)
a1 was a British boy band made up of Mark Read, Paul Marazzi, Ben Adams and Christian Ingebrigsten (from Norway). The band released its first single in 1999, which entered the UK singles chart at number six. The had relative success, despite not getting a number one in the UK singles chart, with songs like 'Forever In Love', 'Everytime', 'Heaven By Your Side' and 'Like A Rose'. Their first ever single released was 'Be The First To Believe', which was used as a promotion for A1 even before the song was written and the band had just formed. In autumn 2000 they scored two number one hits within nine weeks: Take On Me and Same Old Brand New You. Their 1st no.1 single, 'Take On Me', was a cover of A-ha's 1985 cult classic and even surpass them as A-ha only managed a no.2 position in the UK charts. Subsequently, they toured Asia and was hugely succesful, as they released two more singles, 'No More', whose music video was shot exclusively in Singapore and 'One More Try', a catchy song which was also very popular. Disaster struck when they were in Indonesia performing in a shopping mall, four teenage girls died in a stampede and a1 was so devastated that they thought of quitting the music industry. They then went on to released their third album subsequently called 'Make It Good'. Moving towards a more rock-oriented album, they had several hits but unfortunately it was their last studio album. They released the Best Of album on January 2004 which comprise of a Live concert songs and also all their hits plus two unreleased songs. The band wrote their own songs and played musical instrutments. Mark plays the piano and drum, Ben plays the piano and Christian plays the piano and guitar. Ben Adams is to released an album late 2005, with already one single, titled 'Sorry', already released. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
