The plot revolves around 13 new colonists to the world Delmak-O. They all seem to be mentally ill in some way or other, and soon they start to become suspicious of each other. When one of them is murdered everything starts to fall apart.

After a short while, the remaining group decides to try to escape. The world is very mysterious and is inhabited by a strange huge jello cube that gives out advice. One by one various calamities take the lives of each character, and the group goes to the jello cube for advice, triggering a total breakdown of the world.

This is probably one of Philip K. Dicks weirder novels, and also one of the darkest.
