It was produced by Stephen J. Cannell Productions (the studio of television producer and novelist, Stephen J. Cannell, who also produced shows such as The A-Team and The Rockford Files) and was aired on the Fox Broadcasting Company (FBC) from 1987-1990; some speculate that it was Johnny Depp's exit that caused the program to be cancelled from Fox. The 1990-1991 season (otherwise known as the final season), completed in first-run syndication on local affiliates.
