The XVIII Olympic Winter Games were held in 1998 in Nagano, Japan. Other candidate cities were Aosta, Italy; Jaca, Spain; Östersund, Sweden; and Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. The selection was in 1991,in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
