1949 World Federalist California Resolution
The 1949 World Federalist California Resolution was a remarkable measure passed by the California legislature that called on the United States Congress to amend the U.S. Constitution to allow for U.S. participation in a federal world government. It was introduced at the request of World Federalist leaders Alan Cranston and Bob Walker. Such a resolution would be highly unlikely to pass in today's political climate, in which the United Nations has become a controversial organization.
